

Steradent Promotional Pack
Challenge
Steradent, a leading brand in dental hygiene products, sought to create a promotional gifting pack that elevated the unboxing experience while remaining cost-effective. The key design challenges included:
- Creating a premium gifting experience, making the promotional pack feel special and engaging.
- Maximising branding on the lid without requiring reverse printing, which would increase production costs.
- Reducing pilfering risks without using a plastic film window.
- Ensuring product visibility with a large aperture to showcase the pack’s contents.
- Meeting budget constraints by designing a layout that fits within a B2 sheet size for efficient printing.
Solution
To develop a solution that met these criteria, we designed a functional yet stylish promotional pack with a flip-top opening mechanism, adding a premium unboxing element.
Gifting Experience & Unboxing Appeal
A flip-top lid was chosen to enhance the unboxing experience, making it feel more like a gift rather than standard retail packaging. Inside, a subtle branding message was added to reinforce brand storytelling, engaging the customer further as they opened the box.
Optimised Branding Without Reverse Printing
Instead of reverse printing, the box was cleverly designed with a fold-over lid flap, allowing the inside of the lid to feature branding without the need for double-sided printing. This efficient design maximised the external branding area. The lid featured bold colors and sharp graphics, ensuring strong brand presence.
Reducing Pilfering Without a Film Window
A clever structural locking mechanism was introduced, making it more difficult to open the box without damaging it, thereby discouraging pilfering. The design featured internal flaps and die-cut elements to restrict unauthorized access while maintaining visibility of the contents.
Showcasing the Contents with a Large Aperture
A custom-shaped die-cut window was incorporated, allowing the product to be clearly seen while maintaining box rigidity. By avoiding a plastic film window, the design remained eco-friendly while still offering visibility.
Cost-Effective Production
The pack was designed to fit within a B2 sheet size, optimising material usage and minimising waste. Smart layout planning ensured cost-efficiency without compromising design quality.
Outcome
The final packaging design successfully delivered on all objectives. It provided a premium gifting experience, maximized branding impact, and effectively reduced pilfering risks—all while staying within budget constraints. The response from both retailers and consumers was overwhelmingly positive, with the promotional pack driving higher engagement and increased brand awareness.
