With 40 years of experience in the packaging industry, Jon has a deep understanding of packaging solutions. He specialises in designing packaging that not only protects products but also enhances brand visibility. Over the years, Jon has worked with a wide range of clients, from startups to established brands, assisting them in streamlining packaging processes and reducing costs.
Jon has worked with renowned brands like Nestlé, Mars, Cadbury’s, and Unilever, ensuring each design delivers excellence. He thrives on collaborating with clients, working closely to understand their vision and create packaging that exceeds expectations.
His passion for packaging drives him to explore eco-friendly materials and manufacturing processes, ensuring that his packaging solutions are both effective and environmentally friendly. In his free time, Jon enjoys exploring new technologies and trends in packaging and sharing his insights with the team.

Office Manager
Lee has been with Duraweld for 20 years, starting his career in various factory departments before moving into the office in 2015. Having worked in every office role, he has developed strong relationships with both customers and suppliers, gaining a deep understanding of the business. His experience across multiple areas has given him a unique perspective, allowing him to manage manufacturing challenges effectively.
Now managing the office team across both Duraweld and Prima, Lee oversees daily operations and ensures everything runs smoothly. In his spare time, he enjoys watching a wide range of sports, from football to wrestling, and also likes playing darts.

Sales & Estimating
Alicja is an integral part of the packaging estimating team, working closely with Jon to turn development projects into accurate quotations. She maintains good relationships with suppliers, allowing her to offer cost-effective solutions first time.
In her spare time, Alicja enjoys staying active and regularly goes to the gym. She likes to unwind by watching her favourite shows after a busy day. Her enthusiasm and humour make her a valuable addition to the team.

Lisa has 23 years of experience in the company, starting as a shopfloor operator before transitioning into the office. During this time, she managed stock orders, estimating, and customer requirements, developing a strong understanding of operations and client needs. Her expertise and dedication led to her promotion to Production Manager 12 years ago, and she now oversees a team of over 50 staff.
In October 2024, Lisa married Lead Supervisor Lee, bringing their work and home lives closer together. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, her favourite thing is going scuba diving and snorkelling while on holiday.

Will has been with Prima for 12 years, having moved to Bradford from Chelmsford to join the company.
Before entering the packaging industry, he worked as a chef, but he quickly became adept across a range of packaging machinery. He is now primarily responsible for the setting and operation of our Jagenberg carton folder and gluer.
Will is a passionate music fan with an appreciation for all genres, though he has a particular love for rock. Outside of work, he enjoys sports and keeping fit, maintaining an active lifestyle. His versatility and experience make him a key member of the team.

Nathan joined the company 10 years ago at the age of 21. Before starting his career in packaging, Nathan served in the Army, an experience that instilled discipline and a strong work ethic. He began in the welding department and has since progressed to overseeing the Sanwa auto die cutter, where his technical skills ensure precision and efficiency.
Outside of work he enjoys cycling, football, and gaming, balancing his time between staying active and relaxing with his favourite hobbies. His positivity makes him a well-liked and valued team member.

Rob has worked at the company for over 30 years. He is responsible for the platen department and has built up a great deal of experience over the years. His commitment and extensive experience make him an essential part of the team.
Rob met his wife, Julia, at the company, and they are celebrating 22 years of marriage this year. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, watching football and photography. He loves the outdoors, walking and sight-seeing.
Our History
Prima Packaging was founded in 2000 by a dedicated team with a vision to create exceptional packaging solutions. Built on the foundations of quality, service, and reliability, we started from a small factory in Bradford and have grown into a trusted packaging partner for brands across the UK. Over the years, we have continuously invested in new equipment and expanded our capabilities to meet the evolving needs of our clients.
In 2022, after more than two decades at the helm, Prima’s founders Richard Cragg and Andrew Birkinshaw stepped into retirement. As a result, Prima was acquired by Duraweld, a leading name in customised stationery and packaging. This transition marked a new chapter for Prima, strengthening our resources and expertise while ensuring continuity for our valued customers. The acquisition also brought together two businesses with a shared commitment to quality and innovation.
Prima’s story traces back even further to its roots in Bradford Boxmakers, and the legacy of craftsmanship continues under the guidance of our experienced team, including designer Jon Simms, who has been instrumental in shaping packaging solutions with Prima since 2015. Now, as part of Duraweld, we remain dedicated to delivering high-quality, custom packaging while embracing new opportunities for growth and innovation.
